I have great respect for street musicians. I can feel all kinds of emotions from every of their movement. I saw them every day when I was living in New York city and thought that they made the city so alive. Among those street musicians there were a small number of Chinese. I felt that the Chinese musicians were different...
The Sacredness Of Life
The Sacredness Of Life
Saturday, September 17, 2016
Once in a while I would read stories circulated in my Chinese friends circle that innocent children were killed by their desperate parents because they were so poor that they lost all their hope to live. One such story was about that a father killed his terminally ill baby son by putting him into a well and letting him die. The baby cried for days in the well before he died…… A recent story was about a young mother ...

Acrylic painting on tempered hardboard, 15" x 24". Inspired by Sandie Bell's marvelous photograph at pmp-art.com. Thank you very much Sandie for sharing! The photograph reminded me a photo of myself leaning the railing of a bridge when I visited MIT many years ago shortly after I came to US. I did not know at the time when I painted this painting that the original photograph was very special to Sandie, but I sensed something special in the photograph. At one point when I was painting I decided to paint as it was in the photograph, so I sketched in the man standing on the bridge, but immediately I knew that I could not handle it, I could not handle the special energy in the photograph. That special energy had to do with the man. Then I decided to paint following my own feeling. The girl in the painting symbolizes me. ...

The world before us is in constant motion, folding and unfolding. If we are sensitive enough, and have open minds, we can have a glimpse of the fascination of the creation during each folding and unfolding. Knowledge comes to us. Everything in the universe is there, past, present, and future. All we need to do is to tune in...
Hudson River School Art Trail (1)
Hudson River School Art Trail (1)

I discovered that of all the landscape paintings I love the Hudson River School paintings the best. After all, I live by the Hudson River and the originating place of the Hudson River School is in Catskill, just 1.5 hours drive from our house. I decided to pay a visit to the house of Thomas Cole (1801 --- 1848), the founder of the Hudson River School. The house is located at 218 Spring  Street, Catskill, New York, 12414, now it is called Cedar Grove, The Thomas Cole National Historic Site. ...
Fun With Acrylic Painting
Fun With Acrylic Painting

I guess that it is not accidental that I picked up brushes out of blue on August 18, 2015, and since then painting has become my new found passion. It is the voice from above telling me that I need to think differently, see the world differently, from the way that I was used to, which is very linear and logical. Painting is a training for me in order to experience the magical side of the world. Also painting is a tool to express my inner feelings which I cannot describe in words. ...

Inspired by many photographers' magnificent photographs of this mystical site, especially Ruth Archer's. Thank you, Ruth! I had the urge to paint the Stonehenge and just couldn't get rid of the thought, so finally I decided to have a try. For this one the orientation and direction matter so I did some research on it and eventually I thought that I had a pretty good idea of how the stones sit, and thus I knew that I could more or less get the light and shadow right. ...
Love Is In The Copper
Love Is In The Copper

I love copper. I treasure every piece of my copper, including the copper dust I collected when filing the pieces. It is a great joy making models from copper tubing. The copper tubes I used in the models are 1/4" OD and 1/8" OD tubings. My very first crystal charger, built according to the Michael Teaching. [Reference: Judithann H. David, and JP Van Hulls, Michael's Gemstone Dictionary] The following two paragraphs taken from the above book give one an idea of "who is Michael": "Michael" is the name taken by a group of 1050 individuals, once flesh and blood humans like ourselves. After completing their physical lives on Earth, they bonded in spirit form into an "entity" so cohesive that they now consider themselves a unit. Hence, the singular name "Michael". ...
