Stonehenge

Loner
Acrylic painting on tempered hardboard, 24" x 36", Inspired by many photographers' magnificent photographs of this mystical site, especially Ruth Archer's at pmp-art.com, "Stonehenge". Thank you, Ruth!

I had the urge to paint the Stonehenge and just couldn't get rid of the thought, so finally I decided to have a try. For this one the orientation and direction matter so I did some research on it and eventually I thought that I had a pretty good idea of how the stones sit, and thus I knew that I could more or less get the light and shadow right. Though I did not have the skill to paint something like this but that didn't deter me. I believe that if you think you are a rock then you can paint a rock. And this was exactly what happened.

I hope that one day I could visit this site in person.
